mind riding this Friday: april 29

This Friday, April 29, 7:30-8:45pm, we'll be riding our minds from the ordinary into the extraordinary. At the Red Lotus Society's Ideal Studio, I'll be sharing a profound yet simple practice that my own sangha holds near and dear. Here's the 'official' scoop:

Join Emily Steinberg (that's me) in the Ideal Studio for an evening of merging your body, speech and mind with the buddhas, as taught by Sogyal Rinpoche, founder and spiritual director of Rigpa and author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.

In the Unifying Practice, three key methods of meditation—looking at an object or image of a buddha, reciting a mantra and watching the breath —are brought together into one practice.

As we practice these methods in a gradual sequence, we tune into our own body, speech and mind while invoking and receiving the blessings of the enlightened body, speech and mind of the buddhas. Focusing on the image and mantra of Guru Rinpoche, known by Tibetan Buddhists as the ‘second Buddha’ for having brought Buddhism into Tibet, we slowly transform our thoughts, emotions and energy, and become steadily more peaceful and more present.
